Bersatu kita teguh, bercerai kita roboh. 👐🏽
If there’s ever a time that exemplifies that saying, that time is now. When the MCO was announced, we also had a little announcement of our own – Sedunia waived its 3% service fee for all fundraising efforts related to or affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.
As support continues to pour in from all walks of life to various groups in need, we then turned our focus to the core group we have always worked for – the Orang Asli community.
The times we live in now may be unprecedented, but let’s not take for granted that extraordinary circumstances like this will not recur. We realised that we have to take a big-picture, long-term view to ongoing issues affecting the Orang Asli’s livelihood. To that end, we partnered with Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA) to streamline and digitise all OA relief efforts, via our platform Covid-19 Alliance for Orang Asli.
Our goals 🎯
🎯 To serve as a public dashboard for all Orang Asli relief efforts, where anyone and any NGO can register and track ongoing OA-related activities
🎯 To establish and manage an emergency fund which can be accessed by NGOs/Community Champions to reach out to villages that have yet to receive aid
There are over 50,000 Orang Asli families in Peninsular Malaysia. With this alliance, we aim to add accountability, transparency, and effectiveness to all relief efforts and ultimately, we hope that no village is left behind. We may not be able to build homes now, but we can still build better lives.
This can only succeed with the support of fellow Malaysians.🇲🇾
Thank you to those who have always worked and fought for the OA community – it’s only onwards and upwards from here.
